About

Welcome.

This online experience was designed and curated to explore the mentorship cycle as an educational practice and philosophy. To begin, please read the provocation below.

Reflecting on your past, it is possible to recognize who or what has been a great influence on your life. Now ask yourself:

“In that moment, did you know this would become one of your greatest influences?”

Through reflection, we are capable of discerning what and who has influenced the person that we are today. In the present moment of these interactions, we are oblivious to what thoughts are being planted. It is nearly impossible to predict what “seeds” will sprout and take root in our being.

Although we are incapable of becoming aware of what is being planted, the “gardener” has the capacity to choose what types of ideas, values, and thoughts are being planted. In realizing this, there is an inherent responsibility as the “gardener” to be intentional with what is being sowed. A question that can be posed to the “gardener” is:

“What seeds do you want to plant?”

In the case of mentorship, the mentor can be considered the “gardener” and the mentee are the receivers of the seeds.
